Just months on from the release of their explosive EP Blitz Pt. II, Strange Bones are back and they’re even more unbelievably fierce. Brand new track Menace is, as its name implies, a hazardously huge wall of electronic sound; punk energy and chaotic arrogance all thrown into one jagged-riffed melee of noise. After signing to FKRST, Strange Bones are announcing their presence with a vengeance, and it’s brilliantly fearsome to see.
After what’s felt like nearly a year of stagnation and uncertainty in every area of the world, Strange Bones have catapulted us into an absolute whirlwind of catharsis. Menace is an uprising, battling the silence with unrelenting loudness and cutting through the confusion with SB’s characteristic blend of sharp electronica and gritty punk. Bob Vylan’s addition serves to further smash any attempt to box in Strange Bones’ sound with his hissing interjections; every component of Menace adds to its delicious unpredictability.
Strange Bones have honed their sound to rugged perfection, from guitar-punk beginnings to the raucous pedestal they find themselves on now. Menace is their most self-assured release yet, hurling itself around with the power of the most vicious mosh-pit (as SB pits are!). If Menace is the entrée to what’s to come, then it’s a promise that Strange Bones are preparing to knock us breathless.
